I love my K10 and while I would like a K7, frankly I can't
justify the expense for what would ultimately be a fairly
minor improvement. The istD to a K20 would be a pretty big
jump, so for $900 I'd probably consider it.
The things I like best about my K10 are:

the twin dials - it makes it so easy to change settings.

Dial and button placement - everything is in the right spot.
Means that I can operate all the important stuff while I've
got the camera to my eye.

Sv mode - I set the front dial to ISO and the rear to
program shift. Makes for very fast way of setting the camera.

Weatherproofing - more than once this has meant that I still
have a working camera. If I didn't have weatherproofing I
would have had to spend a fortune on replacement cameras.

Colour rendition - I also have a Canon camera, and I find
that particularly for landscapes, the Pentax wipes the floor
over the Canon for colour accuracy. Purple flowers stay
looking purple and don't end up either blue or red. Skies
stay blue, and don't end up cyan (although it often needs an
extra stop of underexposure to stop them being white). It
maintains rich greens instead of them all becoming yellow green.

Thanks for that . I too are seeing the issues with expense from the k10 to
the k7

all thought 720p video through a 500mm lens with a 2x multiplier seems like
a nice toy to have .
