Broken Pentax K100D Body

After being left out overnight, our Pentax K100D body has developed the
problem of taking a picture 1 sec after turn on and then refusing to
take any further photographs/images. It appears all other settings can
be adjusted.

We are looking for (constructive) suggestions, Thank you.

Just under five years old, so well out of warranty. (12 months?)

I'm guessing that given the optics inside, it isn't a good idea to
flood/fumigate the body with circuit board cleaner or such.

First option; Is it worth getting a service done?
Whom/where? (close to Sydney preferred)
Any idea of cost?

Second option; A; To purchase a new body?
Brief research suggests about $500 for a K100D
Any recommended stores around Sydney?

Second option; B; To upgrade the body?
Will most Pentax bodies take the two Sigma lenses?
Is compatibility easy to find somewhere?

Given that Australian purchase warranty is only 12 months, I'm thinking
that I might as well buy overseas. any good places?

Thanks.

Very much so.

Try http://www.cameraservicecentre.powerup.com.au/
in Castlereagh St, CBD. No idea of cost, ask them for a quotation.

That sounds a bit on the expensive side. Try ebay?

Any Pentax DSLR body uses the same mount. It hasn't changed in
eons.

Many. But best bet would be ebay.
